The CDP Greenhouse Gas Emissions Tools and Datasets Guide for Cities
Cities have a critical role to play in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels and avoid catastrophic climate change. They are responsible for 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, they have an important role in reducing emissions.
Before a city can take action, however, it must monitor the emissions generated in the urban area and allocate them to individual sectors and activities. To do this, cities need to develop a robust greenhouse gas inventory (GHGI) that will help them set reduction targets, prioritise climate action and track progress.
The CDP Greenhouse Gas Emissions Tools and Datasets Guide for Cities provides an overview of GHG emissions monitoring tools, including our gaia platform.
